Winter Book Fair 2019

BY FILIP KALAPISH.

On Thursday the 12th of December, the EEB IV’s Life Skills and Community Building Working Group has the pleasure to invite you to the school’s first Winter Book Fair.

The magic of the written world

This Winter Book Fair aims at bringing editors and book sellers together under one roof for the school community to discover, browse and have the opportunity to purchase books in different languages.

We also wish to introduce the written world to our pupils in a festive way, hoping that the magic of the season will help them develop another way of looking at books.

The Holiday season is also a good time to bring all school sections and levels together for a moment of sharing without too much stress on teachers, parents or organisers.

They will be at the fair…

We are happy to welcome: Filigranes (EN, FR); Éditions Bayard Milan (FR); L’École des Loisirs (FR); The Little Book Den (EN); À pas de Loups (FR); Buchfink (DE); Le Wolf (FR, NL); Librebook (BG, EN, ET, FR, HU, IT, NL, RU); Se m’ami (IT).

S7 pupils will be selling baked goods for everyone to enjoy. Profits from the bake sale will go to the funding of the different BAC events organised by the pupils, to the Community Fund and to the Pupils’ Committee.

Christmas market will take place next to the fair. Items made by the pupils involved in several projects will be for sale.

Because it might be cold, warm beverages will be available at the Snack Shack.

When?

The Winter Book Fair will take place on Thursday, the 12th of December from 09:40 to 18:00.

Nursery school: Pupils can visit as from 14:30 accompanied by their parents.

Primary school: Pupils will be able to visit the fair during school hours with their class teacher and after school hours with their parents.

IF YOU WISH TO ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO PURCHASE BOOKS OR A PIECE OF CAKE, PLEASE HAVE THEM BRING A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY IN AN ENVELOPE (MAX. 20€) WITH THEIR NAME AND CLASS CLEARLY WRITTEN ON IT.

Secondary school: Pupils are invited to visit the fair during their lunch break and free periods.

Parentsteachers and staff members are warmly invited to join us from 15:00 to 18:00 (14:30 to 18:00 for parents of pupils in Nursery school).

For security reasons, we kindly ask parents wishing to attend the Winter Book Fair to bring their ID and to register through the following link: https://forms.gle/mbTDPeMinqqU4Rms5.

Where?

The Winter Book fair is organised on the school premises:

Book Sale: In the Ballroom located in the administration building (G Building, 1st floor).
Bake Sale and Christmas Market: Under the gate located between the administration building and the Arts building (G Building, ground floor).
Warm beverages: At the Snack Shack, located next to the administration building.

We need your help!

This could not be a community event without us asking for some help:
From all parents: We would appreciate donations of baked goods for the pupils bake sale to be a success and for everyone to be given the chance to enjoy a delicious treat (biscuits, scones, cakes, muffins…). We are looking forward to discovering all kinds of holiday sweets from all over Europe!
Please make sure the name and class of your child are clearly written and securely attached to the container so it can find its way back to you.
From our older pupils, parents and teachers: We would like to festively decorate the venues and would very much appreciate decorations but mostly hands and time to help us achieve this. If you are interested in donating decorations or time please get in contact with us ([email protected]).

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
